How it works
To perform this treatment, metal probes are placed on the skin and used to physically guide the muscles into the desired position. The treatment affords the muscles the necessary energy to keep tension in their new, improved position as the electrical signals reach deep into the facial muscles and surrounding tissues to promote circulation, collagen production, cellular repair and regeneration. As the muscles are re-educated and move to the proper location, the skin moves with them, diminishing fine lines and wrinkles and resulting in a more sculpted appearance, accentuating cheekbones, smoothing out wrinkles and defining the jawline.
Botox and Dermal Fillers
If you get Botox or dermal fillers, microcurrent is the perfect complement. Dermal fillers give a quick and effective “plumping” effect, diminishing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. However, they do nothing for muscle contour or natural collagen or elastin production - all of which are needed to maintain the face’s natural fullness and youthfulness. Over time, Botox actually causes atrophy to the facial muscles. Regular microcurrent treatments help to keep those muscles alive and are also a great choice for anyone looking to wean themselves off of Botox and dermal fillers.
What does it feel like?
Microcurrent facials feel like a gentle facial massage, using metal probes. While some people will feel absolutely nothing, others might feel a slight tingling sensation. I will ask you how things are feeling throughout the treatment, so please feel free to communicate openly, as one of the many benefits of the microcurrent facial is relaxation. Any amount of discomfort is easily remedied by applying more gel and /or adjusting the equipment. Your intelligent body will tell you what feels right..many clients fall asleep during this treatment! Since there is a subtle electric current going through your body, you may taste metal, but that's completely normal and is easily remedied with a little candy :)
How many sessions are recommended?
Microcurrent facials are a fabulous one time service however, greatest improvement will be seen with a series. Depending on each individual's goals, a typical series is 6-12 treatments over a 6-12 week period of time, with recommended maintenance facials scheduled at 6-8 weeks, thereafter. Clients will receive a minimum of 2-3 sessions per week for their first 3 weeks, then one per week thereafter, until treatment package is complete.
Those who are on a shorter timeline (preparing for a wedding, accepting an award, doing camera work etc.) may be treated every 3 to 4 days in order to complete the treatment more quickly. After the determined number of sessions, your look is maintained by receiving a single maintenance treatment every 4 weeks.
Contraindications
Microcurrent is for use on healthy faces by healthy people. Individuals who fall into the following categories should not receive microcurrent facials. Clients who have past or present health concerns or questions not listed, must consult with their physician to determine if microcurrent is right for them.
